Babette Burley
Babette started clay shooting in England in 1989, mostly at sporting clays until she was introduced to NSSA Skeet. In 1993 she attended her first World shoot in San Antonio and fell in love with Texas, never thinking that one day it would be her home.
Before moving to the USA, Babette won state championships in the UK at skeet, sporting, and trap. In 1996 she qualified for the England team and represented her country in an international skeet tournament in Ireland, Captaining the winning ladies team. In 1998 Babette and her husband Gary moved to California where she won State and Zone 7 Ladies HOA championships. She has also been a Florida State and Zone 4 Ladies HOA champion.
Since moving to Texas in 2006 Babette has won five Ladies State Skeet Championships including Lady HOA champion in 2010, three Ladies Zone 6 championships and has been selected to eight Texas State Teams, four times as Captain. In 2015 she was a member of the Bandera Ladies Buttercup Team that win the 12 gauge Eagle at the State Shoot.
Babette won the Ladies Wayne Mayes C of C World Championship event in 2017 and has been selected to fifteen All American Lady Teams, being honored as Lady First Team Captain in 2010. She was also the Ladies 12 gauge champion and Ladies HOA third at the 2008 US Open.
Babette loves the social side of skeet and is thankful for her many friends in the skeet community. She is grateful to have Billy D. Williams as her friend, coach, and mentor and credits Billy with helping her to be a better competitive shooter. Gary is her greatest cheerleader, as well as chief sponsor, gun cleaner, and reloader. Both can be found at shoots in Texas and around the country, following their passion for the great game of skeet.
