Helen Swetman

Beginning in 1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Helen Swetman started skeet shooting with her father T, S. Scibienski.  The following year she attended her first World Shoot in 1957 at Reno, Nevada. In 1958 she won a Ladies .410 Title at the Club Metropolitano De Tiro Inter-American Skeet Shoot in Puerto Rico, Since then, Helen has been named to Eighteen Ladies All-American Teams, Fifteen Ladies All-State Teams, and Two Veteran All-State Teams. Helen’s most notable accomplishments include two Ladies World Titles: 28 gauge in 2000, and Champ of Champ in 2003, three Ladies Zone VI Titles, five Ladies State Titles including Ladies State Champion in 2000, a State Senior Title, four State Veteran Titles, She was the 2011 US Open Veteran 28 gauge Champion, and in 2012, Mini World HOA and 28 gauge Veteran Champion. At the 2007 Ladies Charity Skeet Classic she won the Frank Hosford Award for the high combined score in the .410 and 28 gauge and was the Lady Handgun Champion. In 2013 she was inducted into the Texas Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame.

Helen credits her father T, S. Scibienski, her husband Rod, as those which most influenced her into competitive skeet shooting, Helen’s list of influential people also includes Terry Howard and Todd Bender for their coaching skills and their ability to bring her to the competitive level she enjoys today, Helen is a rancher, photographer, huntress, and a woman who loves to spend time with her family.  She enjoys spending time on her ranch taking care of her cattle, wildlife, and entertaining her friends (and shooting every chance she gets), “Shooting with my son Clay and granddaughter Mackinzee has been one of my greatest pleasures and blessings. Because of Clay, I am still shooting today.”

Helen was inducted into the NSSA Hall of Fame in 2018.
